On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that his government was dedicated to establishing law colleges to deliver high-quality education at a low cost. According to a statement released by the Chief Minister's Office, the chief minister remarked this while laying the foundation of Jorhat Government Law College.
According to Sarma, the state government has chosen to establish colleges in Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Rangia, Dhubri, Diphu, Silchar, Tezpur, Nalbari, and Nagaon, all of which will be equipped with modern amenities.
By 2022, 3,000 high schools in the state will have been upgraded to senior secondary schools as part of NEP 2020, he added. The state administration also plans to increase the number of universities in the state, with a goal of establishing one college in each development block to ensure that all sectors of the state's youth have access to higher education. The Jorhat Government Law College will be built at a cost of Rs 14.74 crore and is expected to be finished in 24 months.
