Decision On Pending JEE, NEET Exams Soon: Education Ministry

According to officials, the Ministry of Education is anticipated to decide soon whether to hold the two remaining editions of the engineering entrance examination JEE-Mains and the medical entrance examination NEET in August. "The issue is being assessed to determine when the pending editions of JEE-Mains will be held and whether NEET-UG will be held on August 1," a senior official said.

JEE-Mains is being held four times a year starting this academic year to give students more flexibility and a chance to enhance their results. The first phase began in February and ended in March, with the remaining phases set for April and May. The JEE-Advanced exam, which is used to get into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology, has also been postponed. The exam was set for July 3rd.

While no further decisions on NEET-UG have been made, registration for the exam, which was set to begin on May 1, has been postponed.

The theory paper evaluation formula is as follows: a 30% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Class 10, a 30% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Class 11, and a 40% weightage will be given to marks obtained in Class 12 in the unit test, mid-term, and pre-board exams, according to the policy decided by a 13-member panel set up by the board.

According to the CBSE model, for Class 10, 30% of the marks will be based on the average theoretical component of the best three performing courses out of the core five subjects.
