IGNOU to develop professional development programme for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas teachers

On March 30, IGNOU and the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) to start a six-month certificate programme for the professional development of 10,000 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya teachers across the country. The MoC aims to boost teachers' productivity while also helping students develop socio-emotional learning skills that will help them make better career decisions. The School of Education (SOE), IGNOU, will start the programme shortly. IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nageshwar Rao told NVS that the university will provide high-quality teacher training by incorporating technology into the curriculum delivery.

The members in attendance at the MoC ceremony were greeted by Dr Venkateshwarlu, Director, SOE. Dr. V.B. Negi, Registrar (Admin) of IGNOU, and Shri G. Arumugam, Joint Commissioner of NVS, signed the MoC.

“Teacher training should result in a noticeable qualitative shift in our special residential schooling system,” said Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Commissioner Shri Vinayak Garg, IAS.
