IIT Delhi Gets New Director- Rangan Banerjee


The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) got its new diretor, Prof. Rangan Banerjee. Mr. Banerjee was associated with the Department of Energy Sciences & Engineering, IIT Bombay. Congratulating Prof. Banerjee, former director Professor V. Ramgopal Rao tweeted, "I am happy to inform you that Prof. Rangan Banerjee from the Department of Energy Sciences & Engineering, IIT Bombay has been appointed as the next Director of IIT Delhi. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Banerjee


The new director, Rangan Banerjee from the Forbes Marshall Chair Professor in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, is also on the editorial board of International Journal of Sustainable Energy, International Journal of Sustainable Engineering, International Journal of Thermodynamics, Solar Energy Advances, Global Transitions (Energy Transitions). He has been involved in setting up a Megawattscale Solar Thermal Power Testing, Simulation, Research Facility sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and is the faculty advisor of Team Shunya - India’s first student team in the Solar Decathlon 2014 Europe finals that involves designing and constructing a fully functional Solar house, a statement on the IIT Bombay website said.


His areas of interest, according to IIT Bombay website, include energy management, modelling of energy systems, energy planning and policy, hydrogen energy and fuel cells.

He has co-authored a book on Planning for Demand Side Management in the Power sector, a book on Energy Cost in the Chemical Industry and a book on Engineering Education in India, IIT Bombay said.
