ISRO is offering a Certificate course, titled “Satellite-based Navigation: A Journey from GPS to Mobile Phone Platform”,
through the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), which is a premier training and educational institute under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The 12-day course will be conducted from 1 to 12 March 2021.
The course is basically about the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology which has various measurement and positioning techniques that can be applied as per requirement in different applications. The course has been designed in a manner that the first week’s lectures are dedicated to the basic information about the GNSS leading to studies carried out in different areas in the second week.following candidates:
Students of final year undergraduate course or postgraduate course in any year.
Technical or scientific staff of Central or State Government.
Faculty or researchers at universities or institutions working in the fields of GNSS technology.
Users receiving programs under CEC-UGC or CIET.
Institutions on high speed National Knowledge Network (NKN)
What you will learn in the Course?
Since GNSS technology has various applications in areas like TEC estimation and Earthquake studies, atmospheric studies and Mobile GIS, the following aspects will be covered:
Introduction to GNSS.
Satellite-based navigation systems (IRNSS, and so on).
GNSS measurement and positioning techniques.
GNSS receivers GNSS errors.
Satellite-based Augmentation System (GAGAN, and others).
Application of GNSS in location-based services.
Application of GNSS in geosciences.
Application of GNSS in atmospheric studies.
Advanced GNSS data processing.
How to Apply
To register for the ISRO free online course, the interested organizations have to identify a coordinator at their end who will register online their institute as the nodal center on the IIRS website. All the participants have to register online through the registration page by selecting their organization as the nodal center. Those who wish to know more are advised to go through the course brochure in detail.
