National Institute of Industrial Design, NID Ahmedabad was established in 1961. It was set-up as an autonomous all-India body. Thereafter, by the National Institute of Design Act 2014, NID Ahmedabad was declared as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the Indian Parliament.

One of the most prestigious design school in the country, NID Ahmedabad has been listed among the top 25 European & Asian design programmes in the world by the Business Week over the years (2006, 2007, 2009, and 2014).
NID Ahmedabad offers design courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels to aspirants. The design school also offers hostel facility to students.
