Career as a Chartered Accountant

Chartered Accountants are technically indispensible for a company's proper functioning due to their job description. This is because a Chartered Accountant's work entails crunching numbers and comprehending the complexities of finance, accounting, and auditing. Jobs for chartered accountants are plentiful because a company's financial stability and soundness are needed for it to thrive and profit. A chartered accountant must not only be highly comfortable with statistics and be able to interpret them, but he must also have practical experience in the fields of company and corporate law, as well as taxation. Since this career is both lucrative and challenging, a variety of colleges offering chartered accountant courses have sprung up across the country in recent years.

How to become a Chartered Accountant

Only members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) are permitted to practise as chartered accountants in India. In order to do so, one must pass the ICAI's final test. However, this is insufficient to begin a career as a chartered accountant. Additionally, one must register with the board of studies and work as an audit clerk for a practising accountant. Because of the nature of the profession, most chartered accountants have at least a bachelor's degree in commerce, but this is not a prerequisite. If they pass the intermediate and final exams, even non-commerce graduates may enter the ICAI. This choice is also available to students who have completed their 10+2 and have completed a one-year foundation course.
