Under the new scheme named ‘Abhyudaya’, UP government will provide free coaching facility to students aspiring to appear for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, NDA, CDS or UPSC. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state-wide free coaching facility programme will commence from next month to help students prepare for various competitive examinations. “In the first phase, it will be in 18 divisional headquarters of the state, where coaching will be imparted physically and virtually. Officials will also devote their time and experts will also be posted there,” he said. The classes will begin on February 18 with the help of physical and digital infrastructure of various universities and colleges. A special committee will also be formed to oversee the functioning of the scheme. The government would select around 300 students from each division. These students would be given a stipend of Rs 2,000 per month for initial five months. The coaching institutes would help students preparing for various exams such as NEET, JEE, NDA, CDS and civil services examination. According to an estimate, around 4-5 lakh students, many of them from an economically poor background, appear in these competitive examinations.
