As part of its continuing golden jubilee year festivities, the Naval Institute of Educational and Training Technology (NIETT) has opened a contemporary Educational Technology Lab. On April 25, 2021, the NIETT celebrated 50 years of service to the nation.
On July 26, 2021, Vice Admiral A K Chawla, PVSM, AVSM, NM, VSM, ADC Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command inaugurated a modern Educational Technology Lab at NIETT, equipped with Immersive technologies headsets and 3D training aids/gadgets, as part of the ongoing Golden Jubilee Year celebrations," according to a Defense release.
NIETT is the Indian Navy's flagship institute for 'Training the Trainer,' and in August 1998, it was the first Indian Navy training facility to achieve ISO accreditation. During the ceremony, the Vice Admiral also unveiled the eighth edition of NIETT's biennial training journal, 'Learning Lounge.'
According to the press release, the Institute teaches officers and sailors from all branches of the Indian Navy who perform instructional tasks, as well as officers from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and Friendly Foreign Countries.
