Delhi hosts 2nd Asian Sikh Games Taekwondo Championship; India tops medal tally

New Delhi: The 2nd Asian Sikh Games Taekwondo Championship was held at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, drawing around 250 athletes from India and Nepal. The high-energy tournament showcased strong performances across weight categories, with the Indian contingent emerging as the overall champions.
India dominated the competition with gold medal wins by Aryan Tanwar (63 kg), Priyanshu Chauhan (87 kg), Kanishka (73 kg), Shagun Chauhan (53 kg), Khushi (62 kg), Yash (53 kg), Satyam (49 kg), Lavanya Tanwar (29 kg), Aditya (29 kg), and Dhruv (50 kg). In the Poomsae events, Prameet Tanwar and Pankaj Sharma also clinched gold medals for India.
Nepal put up an impressive show as well, with Vedika Thapa winning gold in the 55 kg category, Vrinda in the 57 kg category, Shivani Gurung in the over 73 kg category, and Geeta Limbu in the 35 kg category.

With their medal-winning performances, the athletes secured qualification for the World Sikh Games Taekwondo Championship scheduled to be held in Germany this August. The Indian team finished the championship in first place, underlining its strong presence on the Asian taekwondo stage.
