DRDO Scholarship 2020, Exclusively for Girls; What, where and how to apply - Read to know full info


Scholarship scheme, exclusively for girls has been announced by DRDO. DRDO scholarship 2020 for girls is being offered to students pursuing their BE, BTech, ME, MSc in engineering and MTech along with GATE and JEE scores


The last date for online application for DRDO scholarship 2020 for girls has now been extended to 31 December 2020. The date has most likely been extended due to the pandemic situation, and to aid students facing problems due to delay of results in various engineering colleges. The last date of online application for the scheme has been extended twice earlier.


What is the DRDO Scholarship 2020 for Girls all about?

DRDO launched the “DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls“ through Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), a premier DRDO centre mandated with the responsibility to nurture quality aeronautics human power in the country. Through the DRDO scholarship 2020 for girls, AR&DB aims at tapping the talent of bright female students from across the country. The Defence Research and Development Organization provides 30 scholarships to female students under this scheme each year.


Indian female candidates enrolled in the first year of full time four year degree of BE or BTech in aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering and rocketry, avionics, or aircraft engineering can apply for twenty scholarships worth Rs 1,20,000 per year or annual fees, whichever is less, for a maximum period of four years. Candidates must have a valid JEE Main score, and must be enrolled in the academic year of 2020-21.


There are also ten scholarships for Indian female candidates enrolled in two-year full-time degree of ME, MSc in Engineering or MTech in aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering and rocketry, avionics, or aircraft engineering for scholarships Rs 15,500 per month subject to Rs 1,86,000 per year for a maximum period of two years. Candidates must have a valid GATE score, and must be enrolled in the academic year of 2020-21.


Furthermore, students pursuing dual degree course or integrated master degree in aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering and rocketry, avionics, or aircraft engineering may also apply for this scholarship only for first four years as applicable for BTech degree.


Interested and eligible candidates can apply on the official rac.gov.in website before 31 December 2020. Candidates will have to upload documents and also get a certificate from the institute they have enrolled themselves in stating that the candidate is a student of the institute and does not avail any other scholarship.
