Education Minister Pralhad Joshi Calls for Stronger and More Transparent Examination System

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday held a meeting with senior officials, including the Education Secretary, to review key matters concerning the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The meeting focused on strengthening the agency’s institutional mechanisms, streamlining examination processes and making the system more responsive to the concerns and needs of students, according to official information.

Following the meeting, Joshi said in a post on X that discussions centred on key issues requiring attention and the steps needed to improve the functioning of the examination agency.

He said the government’s priority was to strengthen institutional mechanisms, simplify processes and ensure greater responsiveness towards students.

“Our focus remains on building a robust, transparent and credible examination ecosystem that serves the aspirations of every student,” Joshi said.

The meeting comes at a time when the NTA is facing increased scrutiny over examination-related concerns. The agency has been working towards strengthening its systems and improving the reliability and transparency of major entrance examinations conducted across the country.

The government’s latest review is expected to focus on measures that can improve examination management, institutional accountability and the overall experience of students appearing for competitive examinations.

Joshi was appointed Education Minister on July 26, succeeding Dharmendra Pradhan. He continues to hold additional responsibility for the Consumer Affairs Ministry.

The developments also come amid investigations into alleged irregularities surrounding the NEET UG 2026 examination. According to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet filed before a Delhi court, three NTA subject experts allegedly breached an obligation of secrecy and circulated NEET UG 2026 question papers.

Against this backdrop, strengthening examination security, maintaining confidentiality and restoring confidence among students remain key priorities for the testing agency.
