Fresh Explosions In Dubai


An AFP correspondent reported hearing a powerful double blast that rattled nearby buildings and left a large plume of black smoke hanging over the area.

The Dubai Media Office later said debris from an intercepted object caused a “minor incident” on the exterior of a building in central Dubai.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. In a post on X, officials said, “Authorities confirm that debris from a successful interception caused a minor incident on the facade of a building in central Dubai. No injuries have been reported.”

Sirens were heard coming from the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s main thoroughfare, according to AFP. Police quickly cordoned off the area following the incident. The affected building reportedly sustained noticeable damage. The incident occurred in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

A day earlier, on Thursday, authorities had also reported a “minor drone incident” in the Al Bada’a area after explosions were heard in downtown Dubai. The Dubai government’s media office stated on X that officials were responding to the situation and confirmed that no injuries were reported.

The Gulf region has faced the impact of escalating tensions since the Middle East conflict began on February 28. According to reports, 24 people have been killed across the region so far, including seven US service members and 11 civilians.
