Karnataka CM Congratulates IISc For Being Ranked Top Research University In World



BS Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, congratulated the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on being named the world's top research institution by an international agency on Thursday. "Congratulations to @iiscbangalore on being named the world's top research institution in the QS World University Rankings," he stated in a tweet.


IISc makes every Indian proud by providing world-class education and facilitating cutting-edge research in science, technology, and engineering."

According to the prestigious QS World University Rankings, the Indian Institute of Science is the best research university in the world based on citations per faculty.


In a study conducted by London-based Quacquarelli Symonds, the IISc received a flawless score of 100 out of 100 for the citations per faculty (CPF) criterion (QS).

Institutions and universities were assessed based on six criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty/student ratio, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio for the QS World University Rankings.


The findings took into account the distribution and performance of 14.7 million scholarly publications published between 2015 and 2019, as well as the 96 million citations those papers got. They also took into account the professional opinions of more than 1,30,000 academics and 75,000 employers.
