Konadapalli Wooden Toys at Andhra Pavilion Captivate NIFT Design Students at Bharat Tex

New Delhi, February 15 – The vibrant Andhra Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025 became a center of attraction for visitors, particularly design students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), who were enthralled by the exquisite Konadapalli wooden toys. These traditional toys, known for their intricate craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage, showcased the artistic finesse of Andhra Pradesh’s artisans.

Konadapalli, a village in the Krishna district, has long been renowned for its wooden toys made from soft Ankudu wood and painted in bright, natural colors. The artisans, using techniques passed down through generations, craft figurines inspired by mythology, folklore, and rural life. Their presence at Bharat Tex 2025 served as a testament to India’s commitment to preserving its indigenous handicrafts while integrating them into contemporary design narratives.

NIFT students, keen on exploring traditional craftsmanship, interacted with the artisans and gained insight into the meticulous process of toy-making. "These handcrafted toys reflect not just artistry but also sustainable craftsmanship, which is crucial in today’s design world," said Nandana, a NIFT student specializing in Fashion Managment .

Andhra Pradesh pavilion was inaugurated at Bharat Tex 2025 in the national capital yesterday. The Honourable Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, officially unveiled the pavilion in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by Smt. Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Member of Parliament, and Vishwa M, CEO of AP MSME Development Corporation.
