Meet 16-Year-Old Lakshmanan Meyyappan - World’s Youngest Male Chartered Accountant

Dubai: Lakshmanan Meyyappan has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, achieving the milestone at the age of 16 years and 141 days.

At an age when most students are still completing their school education, Meyyappan has already built an impressive academic and professional profile in accounting and finance. His journey into the field began during the COVID-19 pandemic, shortly after completing his Class 10 board examinations.

Meyyappan began preparing for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification at the age of 15 and completed it in about a year. His achievement earned him recognition from Guinness World Records in Dubai.

His interest in accounting reportedly began during the pandemic, when his mother, an ACCA professional, introduced him to basic accounting concepts. The experience sparked his curiosity and encouraged him to pursue finance as a career.

Continued Journey in Finance

Completing the ACCA qualification was only the beginning for the young finance professional. Meyyappan went on to earn the CFA charter and is currently pursuing an MSc in Finance.

He is also working as a Senior Research Analyst at Century Financial in Dubai, where his responsibilities involve investment research, financial analysis and market-related decision-making.

Speaking about his Guinness World Records recognition, Meyyappan said that he had never viewed professional qualifications as a race. According to him, understanding how finance works in the real world and developing relevant skills were more important than simply completing qualifications quickly.

He believes learning driven by curiosity can lead to more meaningful outcomes than focusing solely on speed or milestones.

Beyond Books and Finance

Apart from academics and his professional work, Meyyappan also pursues an interest in designing and building watches.

His journey—from exploring accounting concepts during the pandemic to earning professional qualifications and gaining experience in the financial sector—highlights the different pathways students can explore in accounting and finance.

At just 16, Meyyappan’s record-breaking achievement has made him an example of how curiosity, focused learning and early exposure to a subject can help young students pursue ambitious professional goals.
