“Nature is the Best Classroom, Teaching Children Love and Respect for Mothers,” Says Founder Asha Negi

Shimla: Nestled in the serene hills of Mehli, Shimla, Impressions Kindergarten celebrated Mother’s Day in a unique and heartwarming way at the Horticulture Institute, surrounded by the lush green lap of nature. The event brought together nearly 23 mothers and their children for a day filled with creativity, bonding, and joyful memories.

The celebration beautifully blended art, love, and nature, creating an atmosphere where mothers and children could express their affection for one another through meaningful activities.

Inspired by the colourful floral surroundings of the venue, mothers and children worked together to create vibrant flower pots, turning simple craft into a memorable expression of togetherness.

One of the most touching activities of the day involved children painting portraits inspired by their mothers. Several children lovingly painted their mothers’ hair and adorned the artwork with delicate daisy flower bands, symbolising the warmth, care, and irreplaceable role of mothers in their lives. The activity reflected the innocent emotions of children and highlighted how a mother’s presence makes a child’s world complete.

Speaking on the occasion, founder Asha Negi shared the philosophy that guides the institution. “Nature is the best teacher. It teaches discipline, patience, harmony, and creativity,” she said, emphasising the importance of learning in natural surroundings and nurturing emotional connections from an early age.

The celebration stood apart not only for its creative activities but also for its deeper message — encouraging children to appreciate nature, value relationships, and cherish the unconditional love of mothers. Set against the peaceful backdrop of Shimla’s greenery, the event became a memorable tribute to motherhood and childhood innocence alike.Art plays a vital role in developing positive thinking among children as it allows them to express emotions freely, build confidence, and explore their imagination without fear of judgment. Through activities like painting, drawing, craft-making, and creative expression, children learn patience, problem-solving, and self-belief. Art also helps them appreciate beauty, emotions, and relationships, making them more sensitive, empathetic, and emotionally balanced.

At an early age, creative activities encourage children to think independently and view the world with curiosity and optimism. When children create something with their own hands, they experience a sense of achievement, which boosts their confidence and happiness. Art also strengthens emotional bonding between parents and children, especially during activities where they create together, as seen during the Mother’s Day celebration at Impressions Kindergarten.

Founder Asha Negi believes that combining nature with art creates a nurturing environment where children develop creativity, discipline, emotional sensitivity, and positive values naturally. According to her philosophy, art inspired by nature helps children become calmer, more compassionate, and more connected to their surroundings and loved ones.
