NCERT Launches 40-Week Online Diploma Course for Middle School Science Teachers

New Delhi:The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched a 40-week online diploma course in science teaching for middle-level teachers, aimed at strengthening subject knowledge and classroom pedagogy.

Designed for science teachers teaching Classes 6 to 8, the course is open to educators from both government and private schools following the NCERT curriculum. Participants will be required to dedicate six to eight hours per week to coursework and related activities.

The programme will be conducted through the NCERTX online platform and will run from December 29, 2025, to October 18, 2026. Interested teachers can register until December 28, 2025, by paying a registration fee of Rs 2,000 through the NCERTX portal.

Assessment will be carried out through module-wise evaluations and a final examination. Teachers who successfully complete the course will receive an NCERT e-certificate, recognising their enhanced subject expertise and teaching skills.

According to NCERT, the course is designed to help working teachers gain a deeper understanding of scientific concepts while adopting modern, student-centric teaching methods. The initiative aims to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and sustained interest in science among middle school students.
