The Jharkhand government accepted a proposal on Tuesday to distribute free textbooks to students in government institutions in Classes 9 and 10. A government spokeswoman said the decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. "Approval was given to distribute free textbooks annually to all categories of students registered and studying in classes 9 and 10 in government schools," the spokesperson said.
According to the spokesman, the Jharkhand cabinet approved a revised electrification scheme using solar PV microgrids and solar stand-alone systems for 246 villages, up from the previous 230 villages under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
