TNAU Recognized For Mushroom Research



The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has been recognised and honoured for its accomplishments in mushroom research. The award comes from the ICAR (Indian Council for Agricultural Research). TNAU is conducting research on mushroom collection and development, technologies for medicinal mushroom cultivation, extraction of natural dyes and identification of bio-molecules from mushrooms, paddy straw mushroom intercropping in different cropping systems, and outdoor cultivation of paddy straw mushroom in the coastal eco system of Tamil Nadu, according to a press release from the university.


According to the announcement, TNAU offers monthly one-day and five-day mushroom cultivation training programmes to farmers, women's self-help groups, and educated youth in order to promote entrepreneurship. The TNAU Vice Chancellor, Dr. N Kumar, praised and encouraged the scientists to continue their intensive mushroom study in order to achieve greater heights in the next years, according to the statement.
