Tripura boy Dhiman Chakma clears UPSC civil services exam


Dhiman Chakma of Tripura's Kanchanpur, a remote village in the state, has been the first from his family and hometown to pass the Union Public Service Commission's (UPSC) civil services examinations (CSE) 2020, whose results were announced on Friday.


This was Dhiman's final try as an Indian Forest Service (IFS) official in Odisha's Baripada district, Mayurbhanj district.


Dhiman, the son of a schoolteacher father and a housewife mother, scored 482 on the exam and plans to work in the field of teaching in his home state.

''Now, as an administrative officer, I would like to focus on issues concerning education in Tripura. Students are not aware of various opportunities for preparation for competitive exams. They need to be apprised through various talk sessions and discussions through offline or online mode,” says Dhiman.

For Civil Services exam 2020, out of total 761 candidates, 545 are male and 261 are female candidates. This year, Bihar boy Shubham Kumar has topped the exam, while Jagrati Awasthi, Ankita Jain, Yash Jaluka and Mamta Yadav secured second, third, fourth and fifth ranks, respectively.


Shubham, a native of Katihar district in Bihar is an IIT Bombay graduate. He is currently undergoing training at the National Academy of Defence Financial Management (NADFM), Pune. P Srija, a medical graduate from Osmania Medical College has secured All India Rank 20 to become Telangana’s topper.
