US-Israeli strikes have partially destroyed one of the tallest bridges in the Middle East, following a warning by Donald Trump that Iran could face severe bombing. Several people were reported injured in the attack.
The bridge, still under construction, was intended to connect Tehran with the western city of Karaj. Standing at 136 metres, it had been described as a major engineering achievement in the region.
Footage from the site showed thick plumes of smoke rising before sections of the structure collapsed.
Iranian state television reported that the “American-Zionist enemy” targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj, adding that the initial strike caused civilian casualties. A subsequent attack reportedly occurred while emergency teams were assisting victims at the site.
Trump later shared visuals of the strike on Truth Social, stating, “The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — much more to follow.” He also warned Iran to reach a deal “before it is too late.”
Earlier, Trump claimed that US-led military actions had significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities and said that key strategic objectives were close to being achieved. Addressing the nation, he indicated that operations would intensify over the next few weeks and reiterated threats against Iranian infrastructure.
“Our enemies are losing — and America is winning, now more than ever,” he said.
