The Union government will set up 100 new Sainik Schools across India under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced on Thursday.

Speaking at the virtual inauguration of the Motibhai R. Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS) and the Sagar Organic Plant, Shah said the move will create new opportunities for students—particularly those from several districts of Gujarat—to join the armed forces.

Built at a cost of ₹50 crore, the MRC Sagar Sainik School features smart classrooms, hostels, a library, and a canteen, according to an official release. Shah said the institution will serve as a “symbol of pride” for Mehsana and is part of the Centre’s broader plan to operationalise 100 such schools nationwide.

Shah also underlined the importance of the Sagar Organic Plant, which aims to supply high-quality organic products under the Amul brand both in India and overseas. With a daily processing capacity of 30 metric tonnes, the plant is certified under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) and by APEDA, enabling farmers in north Gujarat to access global markets.

The Union Cooperation Minister added that the plant’s expansion will not only promote healthier lifestyles but also help farmers practising organic agriculture earn better and fair returns. He urged farmers and their families to adopt organic products to improve their wellbeing.
