The Science stream is further split into two branches, namely the science stream, medical (PCB) and non-medical (PCM).

In the choice of the third subject, the difference between the two lies. While both physics and chemistry are compulsory, the medical stream includes Biology as the third compulsory subject, and Mathematics is provided by the non-medical stream.


For students with the following subject combinations in class 12, science is a multi-disciplinary academic field: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology). At both UG (undergraduate) and PG (postgraduate) levels, students looking forward to a career in Science have a wide range of choices.

As mentioned above, at all levels of UG, PG, and Ph.D., science courses can be pursued. As per the course and branch selected by an applicant, the eligibility requirements differ. However, the general eligibility requirements for UG and PG Science courses for reference candidates are set out below:


UG level: With PCM, PCB or PCMB subject combinations and at least 50 percent - 60 percent aggregate points, candidates can clear class 12th.


PG level: Applicants should ideally explain graduation with at least 50 percent - 60 percent aggregate marks in the subject in which they wish to obtain their master's degree.
