The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has instructed all school heads to ensure the accurate submission of student data in the List of Candidates (LOC) for Classes X and XII for the academic year 2025-26.
For the first time, CBSE has introduced a two-board examination system for Class X. Accordingly, schools must submit the LOC for all Class X candidates, as the main examinations scheduled in mid-February 2026 are compulsory for every student. A separate LOC for the second Board examination in May 2026 will be collected after the completion of the first exam.
The Board has also announced that the APAAR ID of students will be linked to the LOC data of both Class X and XII. However, schools outside India are exempt from this requirement due to administrative and legal reasons.
This year, CBSE has set two schedules for LOC submission, depending on the mode of fee payment. Schools must ensure that the required fee is deposited by the last date of LOC submission. Any delay in payment will attract a late fee.
For filling the LOC, schools should be prepared with the following details of each candidate:
Personal information, including the correct spelling of the student’s name, parents’/guardian’s names, and date of birth.
APAAR ID (mandatory for schools in India).
Subject codes and subject combinations as per the scheme of studies.
CBSE has further directed schools to conduct detailed orientation sessions for Class X students and their parents, explaining the two-exam policy. Students must also be informed that the subjects filled in this LOC will remain available to them during the second Board examination in May 2026.
