A new BBA programme in Facilities and Hygiene Management has been launched by Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). JLL India, a prominent professional services organisation, has signed an MoU with DSEU. It will be a crucial collaborator in the development of the BBA in Facilities and Hygiene Management programme. The course will begin in November with the commencement of the new academic term. Students from any stream who received 50% or higher in class XII are eligible to apply.
BBA in Facilities and Hygiene Management would be of three-year duration. Through this course, students would be taught everything that is required for Facilities Management like information about various chemicals which are used for cleaning surfaces, Waste Management, practices around sustainability.”
With increasing awareness on cleanliness and hygiene in public places, job opportunities are increasing. Several facility management companies are looking for trained manpower.
Being the one-of-its-kind course in the country, students can hope for jobs with lucrative salaries.
DESU plans to invite faculty from abroad to make students learn about global trends and give them practical exposure, adds Vohra.
Preyanshi Mani, associate head (Academics), DSEU, says, “This course would cover aspects related to outsourcing elements of Facilities Management industry in terms of facility management services like Pantry Management, Travel Desk, Healthcare, Hygiene, Housekeeping and Technical and Engineering services. The specialised component of the course covers Hospital Facilities Management, Commercial Facilities Management and Retail Facilities Management. To diversify, subjects such as sustainability of Waste Management would also be covered. The 5th semester includes functional specialisations that would include soft services, technical services, sustainability and waste management component.”
The 6th semester will be the functional specialisations with various sectors. The course offers multiple entries and exit points, based on the NEP 2020 guidelines. “If the student exits the course in one year, he or she will be given a diploma, which would get into the position of Facility Management supervisor,” adds Mani.
