The Delhi government has unveiled a ₹170-crore initiative to modernise 15 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), introducing new-age courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Electric Vehicle (EV) maintenance and Green Energy. The move aims to equip students with skills aligned to emerging industries and future job markets.

The announcement was made by Skill Development Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa at the Regional Conference of Skill Ministers in Chandigarh, organised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

“This upgrade is Delhi's pledge to turn every hand into a skilled hand, every skilled hand into an entrepreneur,” Mr. Sirsa said.

Hub-and-Spoke OverhaulAs part of the plan, ITI Pusa, ITI Shahdara and ITI Mangolpuri will serve as hub institutes, each supporting four spoke campuses. The upgraded institutes will feature smart classrooms, simulation labs, blended-learning modules and mandatory internships to enhance practical training.

National LinkagesThe initiative will be aligned with the ₹60,000-crore National Scheme for ITI Upgradation, co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank. The national scheme seeks to introduce industry-led governance and outcome-based funding to vocational institutes across India.
