Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been named to the National Steering Committee for the Development of National Curriculum Frameworks, which was constituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The National Curriculum Framework for School Education, National Curriculum Framework for Early Childhood Care and Education, National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education, and National Curriculum Framework for Adult Education will be developed by a 12-member committee led by space scientists and former ISRO head K Kasturirangan.
The Committee will debate various aspects of school education, early childhood care and education (ECCE), teacher education, and adult education, with an emphasis on all of NEP 2020's recommendations for curricular revisions in these four sectors. It will discuss the position papers on various aspects of all four categories that the National Focus Groups have finalised.
The Committee will finalise National Curriculum Frameworks after taking into account feedback from various stakeholders, such as states and UTs, as well as discussions held by the NCERT's Executive Committee (EC) and General Body (GB) and the Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE).
