IGNOU Launches MSc in Data Science and Analytics Under ODL Mode

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new Master of Science (MSc) programme in Data Science and Analytics under the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode, responding to the growing demand for skilled professionals in data-driven fields.
Offered through the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS), the two-year postgraduate programme is designed to equip learners with essential computational and statistical skills required for data analysis and real-world problem-solving. According to IGNOU, the course focuses on the practical application of data science tools across sectors such as business, healthcare, social sciences and engineering.
The programme is open to students from diverse academic backgrounds, including working professionals and those seeking to transition into data science-related careers or enhance their existing skill sets.
Eligibility and Fee
Candidates applying for the programme must hold a bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration from a recognised university. The course fee is Rs 13,000 per semester, excluding applicable registration and development charges, as stated on the official website.

Exit Option
The MSc programme is offered in English medium and follows a flexible ODL format, allowing learners to study remotely. Students who complete the first two semesters, earning 40 credits, will be eligible to exit with a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics.
