The Pushpagiri Lecture Hall Complex and Rushikulya Hall of Residence at IIT Bhubaneswar were inaugurated on August 20 by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. According to an official release from IIT Bhubaneswar, the Centre has allocated Rs 1,260 crores in two phases for the construction of the institute infrastructure.
The institute is building a modern lecture hall complex with a floor space of 26,354 square metres as part of its infrastructure at a cost of Rs 148 crore. As the institute grows, further three buildings are planned to be erected to complete the circular lecture hall complex. The first of the buildings is now ready for use in the next operation.
A mini-complex with ten flipped classrooms is now under construction as part of the larger complex. Rushikulya Hall of Residence has an 800-seat capacity. “The lecture halls are built to be of the modern age and function as e-classrooms where live streaming of lectures with interactivity can be done with lecture recording facility and may be used for traditional classes,” said IIT Bhubaneswar Director. During the winter months, the lecture halls are intended to work with both air conditioning and natural ventilation.
The complex is designed to have a huge interactive space around the buildings. The flipped classroom complex is one of the foremost in the country and it can be used for conventional lectures, group tasks / individual work comprising of study/browsing, design, analysis, problem-solving, assignment, interacting with teacher”.
