ree

In a momentous triumph for Indian cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team defeated South Africa by 52 runs to win India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup title. The victory in the 13th edition of the tournament makes India only the fourth nation—after Australia, England, and New Zealand—to lift the coveted trophy.

Shafali Verma’s blazing 87 off 84 balls and Deepti Sharma’s all-round brilliance (58 runs and 5/39) powered India to 298 for 7, the second-highest total in Women’s World Cup history. South Africa, led by Laura Wolvaardt’s valiant 101, folded for 246 in 45.3 overs.

The win marks a turning point for Indian women’s cricket, erasing the heartbreaks of the 2005 and 2017 finals. Shafali’s comeback innings and Deepti’s match-winning spell sealed a golden night of redemption and celebration for India.

With this historic triumph, the Indian women’s team finally conquered their Everest — bringing the long-awaited world title home.
