In the crowded streets of Prayagraj, a young man stood in a small room with nothing more than a blackboard, a few students, and a dream.
His name was Alakh Pandey.
He was not a famous businessman. He did not come from a wealthy family. He wasn't backed by investors or giant corporations. He was simply a teacher who believed that every student deserved a chance to succeed, no matter how much money their family had.
Every year, countless students across India dreamed of cracking tough exams like JEE and NEET. But many of them couldn't afford the expensive coaching institutes that promised success. Watching talented students give up on their dreams because of money troubled Alakh deeply.
So he decided to do something about it.
From a modest classroom in his home, he began teaching physics with unmatched energy and passion. He explained difficult concepts in simple language, cracked jokes, shared life lessons, and treated students like family. Word spread quickly. More students arrived. Soon, the tiny classroom could no longer hold them all.
Then came a bold idea. Alakh started uploading his lessons on YouTube.
What happened next surprised everyone.
Students from villages, small towns, and big cities began watching his videos. They loved his teaching style. They loved that he cared about them. Most importantly, they loved that quality education was finally within their reach.
The online audience grew from hundreds to thousands, then to millions.
What began as free YouTube lectures eventually became Physics Wallah, founded in 2020 with co-founder Prateek Maheshwari. The platform offered affordable coaching for students preparing for competitive exams, proving that good education didn't have to come with a huge price tag.
As the years passed, Physics Wallah expanded across India. Learning centres opened in city after city. Millions of students joined the community. In 2022, the company achieved unicorn status, becoming one of India's most successful education startups.
Yet for many students, Alakh remained what he had always been—a teacher.
Now, his extraordinary journey is being brought to life in the Netflix series Hello Bachhon. Starring Vineet Kumar Singh as Alakh and directed by Pratish Mehta, the series tells the story of a man who challenged the traditional coaching system and made education accessible to students from every corner of the country.

At its heart, Hello Bachhon is not just the story of a successful entrepreneur. It is the story of a teacher who refused to let money decide a student's future. It is a reminder that sometimes, the biggest revolutions begin in the smallest classrooms.
And in Alakh Pandey's case, one classroom became a movement that transformed millions of lives.
