Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing conflict with Iran is “coming to an end,” expressing optimism about the progress of US military operations. In an interview with NBC News, he said the mission is performing well and could conclude soon, though no timeline was provided.
However, Trump clarified in a separate interaction with CBS News that US forces will not withdraw immediately, stressing the need for global allies to take responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite rising tensions and attacks in the region, Trump downplayed threats to the oil route and criticised allies, including NATO, for limited involvement. He added that US fuel prices, which recently crossed $4 per gallon, are expected to fall once the conflict ends.
The war, now in its fifth week, is reportedly ahead of schedule, with Trump claiming key objectives have been achieved and Iran’s military significantly weakened.
