UPSC CSE Prelims 2025: Civil Services Exam Scheduled for May 25

New Delhi, May 19, 2025 — The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is set to conduct the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Preliminary 2025 on Sunday, May 25. The preliminary exam consists of two objective-type papers — General Studies (GS) Paper I and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), or Paper II.
GS Paper I tests candidates on a broad range of subjects including history, geography, political science, economics, and scientific and technological developments. Paper II, the CSAT, evaluates comprehension, logical reasoning, and analytical abilities.
The admit cards for the prelims have been officially released on the UPSC website — upsconline.gov.in. All registered candidates must download and print their e-Admit Cards, as physical copies will not be sent by post. Candidates are advised to preserve the admit card until the final results of the 2025 examination are declared. Additionally, the "Important Instructions" section accompanying the admit card must be read carefully to avoid any last-minute issues.
Reservation Provisions
In accordance with government norms, reservation of vacancies will be provided for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The exact number of reserved vacancies will be determined and announced by the government.
