Behind every medal won and every anthem played, there stands a coach whose dedication often goes unseen. Coach Soniya Johar was honoured with the Best Coach (Female) award at the 39th National Sub-Junior Kyorugi and 14th National Sub-Junior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship, held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium here, in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the sport and her role in nurturing young talent.
The prestigious national-level championship is being organised by the Delhi Taekwondo Association, which is affiliated with the Delhi Olympic Association, and has witnessed strong participation from emerging Taekwondo athletes across the country.
Soniya Johar’s award reflects her relentless dedication, disciplined training methods, and commitment to developing athletes at the grassroots level. Under her guidance, several young players delivered medal-winning performances, highlighting the impact of structured coaching and mentorship in competitive Taekwondo.
The honour has further strengthened Delhi’s presence at the championship and underlined the crucial role of coaches in shaping future champions in Indian Taekwondo.

For Soniya Johar, coaching is not just about teaching kicks and punches—it is about building discipline, confidence and mental strength. Day after day, she trains young athletes with tireless energy, often spending long hours refining technique, correcting mistakes and motivating her students to push beyond their limits. Her focus has always been on preparing children not just to compete, but to believe that they belong on the national stage.
Under her guidance, several young taekwondo players became eligible for the National Championships, many of them winning medals and making their states proud. Parents and athletes credit her for instilling consistency and resilience, ensuring that training continues regardless of challenges, fatigue or setbacks.
The Best Coach Award stands as recognition of her tremendous dedication, but for Soniya Johar, the real reward lies in watching her students step onto the mat with confidence and courage. Her journey is a powerful reminder that while athletes win medals, it is great coaches who create champions—and shape futures far beyond the podium.
