New Delhi, May 2025 — Girls have once again outshone boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations, continuing a trend of academic excellence that began in 2021. The results announced for the Class X and XII board exams in 2025 reaffirm this pattern, with girls surpassing boys across both levels.
In Class XII, girls recorded a pass percentage of 95.00%, comfortably ahead of the 92.63% achieved by boys—a gap of 2.37%. This trend has held steady in recent years: in 2024, girls posted a 94.75% pass rate compared to 92.71% for boys (a 2.04% gap), while in 2023, the difference stood at 1.98%.
The performance gap is even more pronounced in Class X results this year, where girls achieved a pass percentage of 91.64%, outpacing boys at 85.70%—a significant margin of 5.94%. The trend has grown over time; girls led by just 0.35% in 2021 and expanded that lead steadily to reach the current high in 2025.
Transgender candidates and Children with Special Needs (CwSN) also posted exceptional results this year. Both Class X and XII transgender students achieved a 100% pass rate in 2025, marking a powerful comeback from a sharp decline during the pandemic years. While transgender students in Class XII had dipped to a 50% pass rate in 2024, they rebounded to a perfect score this year. Class X transgender students maintained greater consistency, climbing back from a 90% pass rate in 2023 to 95% in 2025.
Meanwhile, CwSN students have also made notable progress. After experiencing fluctuations in previous years, their overall pass percentage has risen to 93% in 2025, reflecting a steady return to pre-pandemic academic performance.
The CBSE 2025 results underscore a broader narrative of resilience, inclusivity, and a growing gender gap favoring girls in academic achievement—a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.
