New Delhi: The CISI Educational Trust Global Awards 2025 celebrated academic brilliance on an international stage, with Indian students making a remarkable impact among the 13 global finalists. The prestigious competition, featuring a total prize fund of £21,500, drew nominations from CISI global partner universities across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and India, selecting the best-performing undergraduate and postgraduate candidates.
One of the standout achievers was Shreyangshu Deb from Christ University, Bengaluru, who secured the top honour in the undergraduate category. His award-winning presentation critically examined the potential challenges and risks associated with the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the financial sector, impressing a distinguished panel of industry professionals.
Reflecting on his journey, Shreyangshu shared, "The competition was an incredible learning experience. Researching AI's role in finance broadened my perspective and highlighted its impact on investment strategies and risk management. The final round required a deep understanding of geopolitics and global economic trends, further sharpening my analytical skills. Winning this award is a testament to my hard work, and I am grateful to CISI for this opportunity."
In addition to Shreyangshu’s triumph, other Indian students also made their mark. Adith Amarnath, also from Christ University, and Bishal Dey from the Bengal Institute of Business Studies were recognised as highly commended award winners.
The competition witnessed a diverse range of global finalists who tackled the critical topic: “Analyse the potential challenges and risks associated with the increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Financial Sector.” Their innovative insights and analyses underscored AI’s transformative role in reshaping financial services worldwide.
Among the postgraduate contenders, Hamza Khalid from Queen Mary University, London, emerged as the top performer. Expressing his gratitude, he noted, "This platform has enhanced my research and analytical skills while deepening my understanding of AI’s impact on finance. As AI continues to revolutionise the financial industry, responsible integration remains key."
The winners will be honoured at an awards ceremony in April, offering them the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and advance their aspirations in financial services and technology.
Chair of the CISI Educational Trust, Frank Moxon CF, Chartered FCSI(Hon), commended the participants, stating, "The competition has provided a valuable platform for young talents to showcase their knowledge and gain insights into the financial sector. The high calibre of entries this year is a reflection of the dedication and excellence demonstrated by students globally."
With Indian students excelling in the competition, the CISI Educational Trust Global Awards 2025 reaffirm the country’s growing presence in international finance and technology discourse, paving the way for future innovators in the industry.
