Israel Opens Applications for 2026-27 Scholarship Programme for International Students; Check Eligibility and Benefits

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Israel, has opened applications for its 2026-27 scholarship programme for international students, offering opportunities for academic studies and Hebrew language training in Israel.

Interested candidates can apply until June 1, 2026. The programme is open to applicants from around the world who hold at least a bachelor's degree (BA/BSc) and have demonstrated strong academic achievement.

Scholarship Categories

The programme offers two types of scholarships:

• Academic Scholarship: An eight-month programme running from October to June.

• Hebrew Language Scholarship: A three-week summer Ulpan course focused on intensive Hebrew language learning.

Courses Covered

The academic scholarship is available for a range of programmes, including:

• Master's (MA) programmes

• PhD studies

• Post-doctoral research

• Overseas and international programmes

• Special academic courses

Under the academic scholarship, selected candidates will receive:

• Up to 50% tuition fee support (capped at USD 6,000)

• A monthly stipend for eight months

• Basic health insurance

The Hebrew language scholarship covers:

• Full tuition fees

• Dormitory accommodation

• A living allowance for three weeks

• Basic health insurance

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be under 35 years of age at the start of the academic year

• Not hold Israeli citizenship

• Meet the English language requirements of their chosen institution

• Demonstrate Hebrew language proficiency if applying for Hebrew-language study or research programmes

Expenses Not Covered

The scholarship does not include:

• International travel costs

• Local transportation expenses

• Accommodation expenses under the academic scholarship programme

These costs must be borne by the students.

Visa Requirements

Candidates must first secure admission to an institution recognised by the Israeli Council for Higher Education. Scholarship recipients are required to obtain an A2 student visa, which does not permit employment during the period of study.

How to Apply

Applicants should contact the Israeli Embassy or Consulate in their country for detailed submission guidelines and selection procedures.

To apply:

1. Download and complete the scholarship application forms.

2. Get the health form signed and stamped by a licensed medical practitioner.

3. Submit the original application along with two copies and all supporting documents.

4. Submit the application package to the Israeli Embassy in the applicant's home country before the prescribed deadline.

The final selection results are expected to be announced around July, following which successful candidates will be informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
