The largest ever study of ancient human DNA indicates that the response may lie in the mass migration from the Eurasian Steppes of Bronze Age herders, beginning 5,000 years ago, westwards to Europe and eastwards to Asia. Vagheesh Narasimhan, co-first author of the paper published on Thursday in the journal Science, told AFP that the position of population movements has been crucial to understatement over the past 10,000 years.
Indo-European languages, the world's largest language community, including Hindi-Urdu, Farsi, Russian, English, French, Gaelic and more than 400 others, arrived in Europe through the steppes, according to a 2015 paper.These languages share peculiar similarities in syntax, numbers, basic adjectives and various nouns, including those related to family, body parts and more, despite being spread over a vast area spanning myriad cultures.
