Sankalan 2019 to support women empowerment

Janki Devi Vocational Centre has organized its annual event Sankalan on Feb 23 & 24. This year the highlight was the fashion show organized by the students for supporting women empowerment. The show was divided in two parts. First part was an Exhibition in which students of Interior and Commercial Art with Fine art participated with their competitive creativity of product and other departments like Art & Craft, Nursery and primary Teacher, Textile designing, Office Management, Computers, Travel Tourism and Print & Electronic Media displayed their work. Beautiful use of colors and canvas by Commercial Art with fine arts students enhanced the charm of an exhibition. Interior designing students visualized the product according to demand of market and developed them with best of their knowledge.

Second part was Fashion Show in this more than 150 students in 42 groups who had designed their garment and showcasing their creativity through garment by modeling on ramp by themselves. The theme for fashion show like LGBT, Metoo, Rape culture, Digital India, pollution, Menstruation etc. selected to spread awareness among people for these sensitive issues. The student from other department raised their voice through theatre dance & drama. More than 50 students showcased their talent through these culture activities. The subject for this event is dedicated to father daughter relationship, soldiers, gender disparities and other socialism.


The jury includes eminent personalities from different section of the society with professional knowledge. To motivate these students, Ms. Ruby Yadav Phogat who is the president of cultural wing BJP Delhi state will grace the occasion other eminent guests Ms. Deepa Devrajan (Interior Designer), Mr. Mandeep Singh ( Prof. of Architecture and Head Of Industrial Design at the Delhi School of Planning & Architecture), Mr. Jitender Padam Jain (Curator, Sree Arts Gallery), Ms. Vijayata Bhamri (Faculty Jamia Millia Islamia), Ms. Rinkoo Shroff (Fashion Designer), Ms. Archana Puri (Principal, Apparel Training & Design Centre) and Ms. Rohini Gugnani (Fashion Designer) will be there to encourage these students. The objective of this event is to provide opportunity for young girls to contribute in overall personality development in family, society & country. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Swati Pal, Principal Janki Devi Memorial Collage said, “We live in a world where there are so many contentious issues that we confront on a daily basis. It is only right that an educational institution addresses those issues. And when it does so in a creative manner, then it is like the icing on a cake! In their annual exhibition and fashion show, Sankalan 2019, the Janki Devi Vocational Centre has chosen themes such as Me too, LGBT, Menstruation, Widow Identity, Rape Culture, Khadi and Go green. In foregrounding such issues, JDVC has underlined the fact that creativity and education go hand in hand, that women need to think about empowerment in terms of their sexuality and that we as a community need to work towards sustainable development.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Madhuri Verma Coordinator JDVC said, Sankalan 2019 is annual event by Janki Devi Vocational Centre which provides young students a platform to showcase their talent through product develepment by different department so that they can contribute their share in society and family.The cultural proformances to raise their voice against terrorism, gender inequality, rape culture to make people to be more senstive towards these issues.we have design our event in such a way that everone will think about it and get insire to work towards these issues.
