IIT Delhi Launches New PG Programme ‘MTech In Electric Mobility’

From the academic session 2021-22, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will offer a new postgraduate programme called MTech in Electric Mobility. The Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) at IIT Delhi will deliver the courses.

Candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Automobile, Manufacturing Science/Engineering, and GATE qualified in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or Production and Industrial Engineering (PI) disciplines will be considered.

The MTech. programme in "Electric Mobility" is multidisciplinary in nature and will cover key aspects of electric vehicles, drivetrains, chargers, and charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, Battery Management Systems, reusability of energy storage elements, reliability, automotive health monitoring, Automotive NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), vehicle dynamics, and autonomous vehicles.

Students may find employment in various industries related to Electric Vehicle OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Automotive, Battery (pack and module) manufacturing units; BMS industry (Smart and Cloud-based BMS); E-motor design and manufacturing industry; Converter and Inverter industry; and EV chargers industry, depending on their expertise developed during their MTech studies. “The new PG programme has been established with active cooperation of prominent professionals from academia and industry,” said Professor BK Panigrahi, Head, CART, of the new programme. Furthermore, CART is already actively involved and collaborating with a variety of businesses on cutting-edge EV projects. Students will have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge laboratory and will also be exposed to cutting-edge technology.
